Thank You!

Today, I have to tell you that I’m thankful for a lot of things in my life. Let me start with the basics. I am thankful for God who created me in His own image.  I’m thankful for Jesus who died on the cross for my sins. This means that I can ask for forgiven and become Holy again in the eyes of God.  My name is now written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

I’m very thankful to every one of you that read my blog.  You take time out of your busyness to read what I said that day. You might even comment on it as well and start a conversation.

I’m thankful to my family, friends and my church family.  Y’all have taught me so much so much and have helped me grow in Walk with the Lord. You have helped me out when I needed it. Eric and Bonnie, Mark and Kitty, Ellen and Wylie, Barbara, Ms. Annie, Jennifer, and Michelle just to name a few.  You know who you are.

I am thankful for my ex-husbands for making me the better person that I am today.   Eric, you showed me the truth of and gentle side of real love, and what it means to be a true Southern Gentleman. I’m just sorry that I threw it away. Philip, you brought out a strength and determination in me that I didn’t know I had. You opened my eyes to several different worlds and I learned a lot. Paul, you supported me no matter what crazy idea I had. You got me to go back to college, and I now have my AS in Accounting.  Some members of my family thought I wouldn’t go back to college much less get a degree.

These are only a few of the people and the that I am thankful for. If you are not mentioned I am sorry, but you are loved as well.

Superhero’s

I am always looking for things to write about. While  I was reading on MyKLove this morning, I came this article: My Superhero Identity and it really hit me in the gut.  I mean…..Who did  you look up to in the superhero world?  Which one was your “Number One Person” ?  I have to admit that I agree with Pastor Joesy about Wonder Woman.  I  did have some of the same thoughts about Wonder Woman.  But to tell you truth, I didn’t identify with a hero at all,  but a little bit  of a villain.

My person was  Cat Woman.  My life kinda mirrors hers, yes, I even stole and made some destruction in my time. Doesn’t most teenagers to some extent? I was a mouse coming up.  I know….Now, that is hard to believe with my loud mouth and direct questions, but I didn’t know how to stand up for myself.  I was always looking for the approval of a man because I never got the approval of my father.  He wanted a boy and I defiantly was not that.  He did teach me to have a firm handshake.  I have be told that I could brake someone’s hand with my handshake.  LOL

Cat Woman  was weak in the first place and a little helpless stepped on mouse who didn’t know how to stand up for herself.  Then the frightful night came and she got taken by the cats, only to awake to a brand new day.  She discovered that she was more with the help of the cats, and that is when she was turned to hurt men because she saw them as the ones that put her down.

I was this weak wallflower  like Cat Woman until a man beat me so bad that I almost lost one of my children and I finally found the courage to call the police and send him to jail.  The judge  then sent me to AL-ANON.  In that first year I finally found that I was not  this weak little thing that most people in my life had told me I was.  I also found out that I had a voice and more strength  to stand on my own two legs without depending on a man for everything.   I took my kids out of a bad situation and tried to raise them on my own.

Now my Superhero is Jesus.  I will follow Him anywhere.  He is my Lord and Savior.  I love Him very much.  God is my Father and is Love.  He is teaching me how to Love better and intimately.  I also love him.  I am filled with the Holy Spirit.  I listen to him all the time so that I can know what God wants me to read in His Word, study and take into my  heart, and what He wants me to do and say and know. Praise the Lord for His grace and mercy!!!

Let’s be Still for a Change!

Exodus 14:14

“The LORD will fight for you, you need only to be still.”

and

Psalm 46:10

“Be still and know that I am God!

I will be honored by every nation.

I will be honored throughout the

world.”

The above scriptures both talk about being still for God, but you are being still for two completely different reasons.

Exodus 14:14 talks about how the you don’t have to do the fighting because the Lord will do the fighting for you, all you have to do is be still. Stop fighting. Let the Lord do the fighting for you.  Stand down. Lay down your arms.  Back off. Take a vacation.  STOP THE FIGHTING! BE STILL FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE AND LET GOD HANDLE IT!

Psalm 46:10 talks about being still in Spirit and getting to know the Spirit of God.  It is about tuning the world out and letting God in.  The only way that this can happen is by being still and letting yourself be quite.  You have to be able to concentrate on one thing at a time and that would be God.  CAN YOU BE STILL? SILENT?  CAN YOU LET GOD IN?

Is it really such a foreign concept in today’s society to be still?  To slow down? To stop and do nothing for a while?  Even for a minute? Can you do one thing at a time?  I know that it is hard for me to admit that it is hard for me to do just one thing  at time, but I am getting better at it the more I try.

You should try doing one thing at a time some time.  Try praying to God for 5 minutes without doing anything else one day.  When your mind starts to wonder, bring it back to God.  Keeping doing that over and over until your mind stops wondering. Pray to yourself or out loud. It doesn’t matter. Just spend time with your Heavenly Father only.  It’s not as easy as it sounds in our fast pace world unless you put forth the effort to do it.

You know what’s great about putting forth the effort to be still,  you let God do the fighting for you and you get to  know who God is which will allow you to grow more than you ever thought you could in ways that you could never have dreamed of in a million years. Great things will follow you if you let God have the reins of your life because God is working a great work in you, and He will be working it  until the day that Christ Jesus returns. Look it up for yourself.  It’s written right there in the Bible in black and white and red.  Jesus said it in RED so it MUST BE TRUE!!!!!  Not only are Jesus’s words in Red but they are covered in his blood.  You and I are covered in his blood.  Let us all be still together and Let God do His thing!

The Almighty Comma

“,” What is up with this little piece of punctuation?  It’s not real big! It’s actually quite small. But it gives people problems all over the place.  It is one of the most over/under used pieces of punctuations in the books.  Either a person over uses or under uses, but not both, and no one knows why. (I heard that on the radio) I just got through reading a nice little blog at Daily Writing Tips.  It was about using the comma in the right way to save your writing.

Can you figure out what’s wrong with these sentences?  And “YES!”, there is something wrong with every one. Take a good hard look at each one, and you will be able to come up with what is wrong. Here is your chance:

  1. If you think that you can get the drop on me you are highly mistaken.
  2. Sara and Bella are going to the store, then go get their nails done.
  3. It is a constant battle in keeping the ocean from taking the sand, and wherever possible, building up the dunes as we can.
  4. I think movies, like Gone with the Wind, are a great example of cinematography and sparks discussions about our history.
  5. I have to get this information to Betty at her home, by noon, or she will look stupid at the meeting this afternoon.

The Answers:

  1. If you think that you can get the drop on me, you are highly mistaken.
    1. As you read the sentence you know that something is wrong.  Read it again, slowly this time, and you will find that there are two parts to this sentence.
    2. Once part is a partial sentence and a the main concept.
    3. Does the partial adds meaning to the sentence? If yes, then you need to set it off with a comma.  If no, then you add an end punctuation and let it stand on it’s own.
  2. Sara and Bella are going to the store then go get their nails done.
    1. As you read this sentence, you see that you have two verbs and two subjects only on one side of the connector (then).
    2. Since the subject of the second part of the sentence is in the first part there is no comma needed.
  3. It is a constant battle in keeping the ocean from taking the sand and, wherever possible, building up the dunes as we can.
    1. It looks like they are trying to intend a parenthetical phase, and it didn’t come across right.
    2. The comma is also  saying that there are two complete sentences here which is not true.
    3. The sentence says the parenthetical phase is “and wherever possible”, but it really is “wherever possible”.
    4. The test for a parenthetical phrase is that you temporarily take one word out at a time and see if the sentence still makes sense until you have tested every which way and then you will know which way to go.
    5. Since “and” is not part of the Parenthetical phrase, the comma comes after and another one comes behind the phrase to set it apart from the sentence.
  4. I think movies like Gone with the Wind are a great example of cinematography and sparks discussions  about our history.
    1. The commas setting “like Gone with the Wind” tell us that the sentence can do without it.  Can it?  NO!
    2. It is referring to a type/category of films and is therefore essential to the sentence
    3. It needs no commas because it needs to be an active part of the sentence.
  5. I have to get this information to Betty at her home by noon, or she will look stupid at the meeting this afternoon.
    1. The using of commas in the listing of the first three items is not necessary and makes things messy.
    2. The use of the verbs “to”, “at”, and “by” move the sentence along.
    3. Because there are two complete sentences with an or, you place a comma before the or and that is all.

Becoming the Woman God Wants Me to Be – Day 1&2

Place Your Full Confidence in God/ Commit Yourself to Time Alone with God

Scripture of Week to Memorize

“A Wife of Noble Character who can find?

She is worth far more than rubies.

Her Husband Has full confidence in her

and lacks nothing of value.”

Proverbs 31:10-11

Passage of Day to Read – Day 1

“For your Maker is your Husband —

the Lord Almighty is His name —

the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer:

he is called the God of all the earth.

The Lord will call you back

as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit —

 a wife who married young,

only to be rejected” says your God.

Isaiah 54:5-6

Passage to Read – Day 2

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Simon and his companions went to look for , and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else — to the nearby villages — so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”

So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Mark 1:35-39

Day 1

Today the trait  “noble” is harder to find more than ever before.  Let’s define it first.  It means dignified and gracious.  In the Amplified Bible the word for noble is rendered “capable, intelligent, and virtuous.” Such a woman would definitely be hard to find in the world today. Are you such a woman?  Am I?  Not yet, but I am working on it.  Work on it with me.

We are intelligent, dignified, virtuous, capable, gracious women who fill with full confidence in those whose around and in whom rely on us most no matter whom that shall be. People around cam have total confidence in us because our confidence rests in God and we live appropriately.

What’s the ultimate sign that someone loves you?  It is that they would lay down their life for you. Well, God has shown his love for us. Jesus laid down his life to make sure that someday in the future each of us will be special guests at the ultimate wedding in heaven, when Jesus holds the celebration for the church as his eternal bride. (see Revelations 21)

Don’t focus on human feedback.  Focus on your relationship with you Heavenly Husband and live to please Him.  During God’s metamorphose of your life, You will become a even more beautiful bride and a woman of noble character that will in the end bring her praise from the people most important.  It will not happen over night, but enjoy the inner satisfaction that come from becoming the woman God wants me to be.

Day 2

Prayer is your direct line to God and is so important that you should have a special place that is only yours and God’s.  Let it be your Pray Closet ( oasis, corner, space, or just plan area) that is set aside just for your time with God.

Henri Nouwen said,

“Discipline is the human effort to  the space  in which

God can be generous and give us what we need. “

According to Proverbs 31 the husband is to have “full confidence” in his wife. “Confidence comes in a relationship from investing time in that relationship.”  You have to communicate in that relationship. So that for God to have full confidence in you, you have to talk to Him and obey him.

“God wants us to stand out as woman who know we have something of value.  If you want to have something valuable  to offer the world, we must have something of value to offer.” The value we are talking about is more than material value.  See this  world puts dollars and cents on everything.  They put it on human lives. Yes, it’s still legal in some countries.  But I’m talking about investing your time in seeking and exploring heavenly treasures such as knowledge of Scripture, and the power to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit, spiritual insight, ability to carry the presence of God with us where go,

Do you want to be an inspiration to the people that you meet and to everyone around you and mean something to you? Yes, you do! The only way you can do that is by putting God first in your life and talking to Him first thing in the morning?

Bruce Wilkison said,

“I have yet to find a respected leader throughout history who had devotions at night.”

Morning talks with God set to tone for the day.  If you talk to God first thing in the morning, God can also order your life. I  ask Him what He wants me to do that day and He lets me know.

I have found that I have the worst days when I am rushed out the door and miss my time with God.  It’s my own fault because I didn’t hear my alarm, but my day is just no good.  Now on those I try to make time for God and then after that my day does seem to get better.  I know how that sounds, but it is true!

Before you meet with husband, , before you face your family,  before fix breakfast, before deal with the whole world, before you absolutely anything, start your day our right by having a meeting with God.

I challenge you to take the first 30 minutes or more every day for 2 weeks straight to talk  to God. Then leave me a comment and let me know how you feel.  I know that God have worked miracles in my life just because I spend time talking to Him.

Journal 2018 – Day 7 – Bipolar and Sexuality

Bipolar Disorder effects all areas of your life but one area I didn’t know it effected much was sexuality. The thing with sex and bipolar is that either you have it in spades and running over or you don’t have an active libido at all. I am of the later which is why I didn’t know it was part of the Bipolar Disorder. A friend of mine didn’t care whom she had sex with, or what kind of sex she had or with how many men she had it with at one time without any protection at all. This kind of reckless sexual activity is called hypersexual behavior is common in Bipolar disorder. Then there is the other side of the coin when another friend of mine had no interest in sex at all. She didn’t want to be touched in any way at all. Not even from her boyfriend. She was fine with cuddles and hugging and kissing, but going further than that made her run out of the door screaming as if she had been touched by a hot poker. As you can see neither one of these situations puts the person in a very good sexual position. The bad thing about the medications for Bipolar Disorder is that it can stop the hypersexual behavior of the Mania phase of the Bipolar disorder but in most cases it will  completely turn their libido off for good.

Some say that Bipolar disorder is the reason for sexual addiction. The two are often difficult to untangle. According to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) article “Opening the Door on Hypersexuality,” the prevalence of in the people with bipolar disorder is on average 57%. It involves a significantly heightened sex drive resulting in things like “constantly thinking about sex, a preoccupation with pornography, an abundance of one-night stands, engaging in sex with multiple partners, having random sex, seeking out prostitutes or having multiple affairs even when in a committed relationship.”

Most of these sexual encounters don’t mean anything to the person with Bipolar.  They get momentary pleasure from the experience, but they just crave the act of sex.  They don’t really care where or how they get it.  There is no emotional element to these sex acts. When this disorder has disrupted a person’s life almost totally, that person might become a prostitute to hide their sexual appetite.  This way they  can have as much casual, meaningless sex they want.

People with Hypersexuallty are often more likely to try more risky sexual positions and experiences such as being tied up and blind folded. Masters and Servants are also games that can be played as well as the use of whips and chains.  There is one game that even I am willing to play and as stated above I’ve got no libido, and that game is Dirty Minds.  I’d check it out if you want a little fun.

I hopw that I have given you something to think about.  You can’t always judge a book by its cover.

Journal 2018 – Day 6 – Depression

Depression. Now that’s a difficult word there. Let’s start with the “official” definition and go from there. According to the National Institute of Mental Health Depression is a common but serious mood disorder. Some of the symptoms are persistent sadness, anxious or “empty” mood, feelings of hopelessness or pessimism, irritability, feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness, loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities, decreased energy or fatigue, moving or talking more slowly, feeling restless or having trouble sitting still, difficulty concentrating remembering or making decisions, difficulty sleeping, early morning awakening or oversleeping, appetite and/or weight changes, thoughts of death or suicide or suicide attempts, aches or pains, headache, cramps, or digestive problems, without a clear physical cause, and/or that do not ease even with treatment. The symptoms can be severe and affect how you feel, think, and handle your daily life. To be diagnosed with it, you have to have had the symptoms for over two weeks. Not everyone has to have all the symptoms. Some people experience only a few while others experience a lot more. It is the most common mental disorder, and it’s most likely caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors.

There are several types of depression

Persistent Depressive Disorder (also called Dysthymia) – It last for at least two years. A person has major depressive episodes along with less severe symptoms.

Postpartum Depression Must more severe than “Baby Blues” ( a relatively mild depressive/anxiety episode that typically clears up within two weeks after giving birth). This is a full-blown Major Depression during pregnancy and/or after delivery. The feelings of extreme sadness, anxiety, and exhaustion that accompany this type of depression makes it extremely difficult for these new mothers to take care of daily tasks for themselves much less for their babies.

Psychotic Depression – This happens when a person has Major Depression along with some form of psychosis such as hearing or seeing upsetting things that others cannot hear or see (hallucinations) or have disturbing false fixed beliefs (delusions). This type’s symptoms typically have a depressive “these” such as delusions of poverty, illness, or guilt.

Seasonal Affective Disorder – It is characterized by the onset of depression in the winter because of the loss of natural sunlight and coming out of it in the spring when the sun comes out again. Winter depression is normally accompanied by increased sleep, social withdrawal , weight gain, and it predictably returns every year.

Bipolar Disorder – It is different from depression because it’s got mania episodes too, but a person with bipolar does experience extreme lows which are depressions, but they also experience extreme high or euphoric or irritable moods called “mania” or less severe form called “hypomania”

Now that’s that out of the way. It’s the dry stuff. The information stuff. Now we can have some fun….Well….to tell you truth, it’s really not that much fun living with depression. Most of the time you have okay days which are spend in partial dread of bad days.  Then bad days hit and your world is torn apart you don’t know when it is going to end.  It is more than sadness and disinterest. It is like falling down a deep, bottomless, smooth, stone sided well at the speed of light. All you can do is hold on and try not to loss your mind.  The only fun is when the mood swings liven up the place. They can change as slow as the gentle wind blows or as fast as a hurricane roars.  Sometimes my changed so often that if plotted it would look like an EKG.  LOL  The key is not going too high or low.

Well, that’s a good overview of depression.  Now I hope you have a basic understand.  If you have any questions, please leave me a common.
