“For as you think in your heart, so you are!”

This is a powerful Proverb. It says it all. Proverb 23:7 tells us in plain English that everything is tied into our thoughts and what we are thinking at this very moment. What are you thinking right now? Does it matter? I mean really matter in and to your life at this very moment?  Does it? The answer is a resounding “YES!”

People don’t realize that what they think dictates everything else about them: mood, feelings, words, attitude, behavior, and even actions and therefore reactions.  Your thoughts and therefore your imagination shapes your life.  If you want to change any thing at all about you, you have to start with changing your thinking it first.

Let’s take the number one thing that almost everyone knows about or has tried at least once in their lives: Dieting.  There are so many diets out there that it is hard to choose one. It is just crazy. You don’t know which one will work for you.

Of course, if you are anything like me you choose the one that will cause the least amount  of change to your routine and food intake or eating habits and the easiest to do and if it fits into your budget.  You pick a pill.  Maybe it works for a while so you lose the weight you wanted to and you stop taking the pill. All of a sudden you start gain the weight right back.  You go back on the diet again, but this time it doesn’t work. What do you do? You look for the Next Diet…

Again, you go for the one that offers little change or effort, but doesn’t work.  You are not a gym person so what are you going to do.  You can always jump on the diet bandwagon of those diets where you have to buy their food and never cook your own food again.  Is that what you really want? Are you ready to face the truth? Now?

You need to change your thinking! Then you will lose weight.  Start living healthy, and whole lives. Do some sort of exercise program.  It does not have to be at a gym.  It can be as simple as a yoga/video workout at home. Study and read the Bible about being healthy. It has a lot of things to say about and fill you thoughts with all those good thoughts.  Pray and God will help fill you mind with good thoughts too.

I’ve not had a very good life, but it’s made me the woman I am today.  I was (and still am to a point) a very angry woman. (God’s still working on me.  Praise the Lord) I am now in my 50s and it has taken me until now to know that negativity will slowly kill you.  It will eat you up from the inside.  You can’t love if you are always negative.  You will be miserable in your own little bit of hell and make everyone around you miserble too. There is no hope there either. There is only fear and despear. There is hate there too.  Do you want that?

I don’t want that anymore, but I backslide sometimes and God corrects me sternly, but patiently.  I am blessed with a housemate that is very humble, kind, caring, and forgiving of my faults.  She has helped me more than she will ever know.  She has taught me and most likely will teach me a lot more in the future.  I just pray that I am such a good friend to her.  At least I try to be.

Now Positive thinking is something to grab a hold of  and not let go.  If you start to fill you mind with Bible verses and positive quotes and thoughts which you share with all your friends, you will push all those negative thoughts out of your head then your mood, feeling, words, attitude, behavior, actions and even reactions will change in a more positive way.  You just might start loving people and finding hope again.  People will start to see the change in you, and start gravitating toward you instead of away.  You will get a pep in your step and be a happier person all around.

Today is the Time to Make Time for Time

We live in a time driven world with no time for time.  We run around doing stuff as quickly as we can with no time for anything else.  We go here just long enough to get what we want done and not a minute more, then off to the next place for again just the right amount of time again.  Are we nothing more than rats on wheels going no where?  I am constantly working on something, all the time, with no time just to sit and think, much less read a book.  I have actually had to stop myself in the middle of doing something to turn off the TV, and take a moment to actually make time for time.  And Breathe for a second.

I remember a time in which we didn’t turn on the TV until after noon or ever as late as 7 PM and turned it off at 11 PM because the programming was done.  But now the TV runs  24/7 around the world and around meIt’s like I can’t do anything without it blaring in the background.  I know that I grew up with constant music around me, but why am I now drawn to the TV.  I I on’t watch it foghtrighr any value.  Most of the time I put on reruns that I have already seen so Ican look up from whatever I’m doing and know right where they are in the story.  I need to get back to the music.  Music is forever!

Not only is the TV a grabber of time for time sake, so is Facebook.  I had so many people that I followed that I could not get through everything that they posted and I would get frustrated by it nearly everyday, or I would get fed up with the trash that people would post.  People would get mad at me for not seeing what they posted. or not responding to them fast enough or at all.  I finally had to stop looking at it at all.  I just didn’t want to spend all my day to try to keep up with everyone else’s lives.  I want to live my life! Twitter is just as bad but Instagram is better because it’s about pictures and not so much about talking.

We have to be careful about running out of time and wearing our bodies out.  We have to take time to smell the flowers and slow down.  We have to make up our minds what is important to us and where we really need to spend our energy, but we need to make time for time.  If we don’t slow down, we will burn ourselves down.

This is where God comes into the picture.  If we start out our day with at least 30 minutes of quiet time and prayer with God and ask for His guidance for the day, then we will be able to have a plan for the day and be able to handle whatever is thrown at us that day.    If we put God first, then the world can go jump in the lake.  If you know Christ and have him as you Lord and Savior, then you are a Winner cause you’ve read the end of the book.

But it first starts with us making time for time.

Choose to Focus on the Positive

Proverbs 31:10-11

`”A woman of noble character who can find?

      She is worth far more than rubies

her husband has full confidence in her

       and lacks nothing of value”

Philippians 4: 4-9

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice.  And the God of peace will be with you.”

If you are a capable woman, there are two thing that you don’t do, and that is complain and give up.  They look at the situation from all direction and either take charge and come up with a plan to overcome the problem or have enough faith in God and Jesus Christ to accept that there are some things you can not change.

Sometimes we feel like an island, all alone on an island, but this is just not true.  We touch and leave our mark on everything around you.  The best attitude that we can gift to the people around us is to be optimistic with a can do attitude.  We have to realize that our physical health, emotional well-being are all tied up with a nice bow with our mental state.  If one of them is whacky, then all of them are out of whack. Scientific research backs this up, study after study: laughter and joy are healers, and stress as well as  negativity are killers and destroyers of the spirit and soul. In a more comprehensive study it states that people who are positive live longer than people who are always negative, about 30 years.

The Bible, though, said it first:

Proverbs 17:22t

A cheerful heart is good medicine,

but a broken spirit saps a person’s strengths.

Now, let’s talk about how we treat people.  The golden rule in how we are suppose to treat other people is that we love them and treat them the way we want to be treated.  By looking for the good and treating everyone with kindness, you will find that they will treat you better and their best will come out and shine for all to see.

The same is fully realized in circumstances also due to fact that they are highly influenced by people.  Just like there is good in people if you look, you can bring out the good even if it is merely the opportunity to become a more compassionate, wiser or patient person.  Always look for the positive and the lesson.  The Bible tells us to “Seek and ye shall find.” (Matthew 7:7)

If all you ever do is look at the negative side of this world, don’t be surprised if that is all you get.  It is up to you and how you see the world around you.  Your glass can be half-full with the hope of Christ or half-empty with the doom of this world and by giving yourself over to Satan. Be happy and you can see all  that is right with the world, live longer, happy, healthy lives or you can be miserable for the rest of your life.

There are several problems with being negative all the time.  It is that it loves company by making all the people around you unhappy.  Your perspective will bring you down and you will be depressed all the time.  It will rob you of your peace and your joy.  It will ruin your health as well., and erase years from you life.

An enormous step in the journey to becoming the woman that God wants you to be is by learning to discipline our minds to focus on what’s optimism and right than what’s wrong in this world.

Roman 12:1

“Be Transformed by the renewing of your mind”

You mind is the BATTLEFIELD!  Get that straight right now. What is going on in your mind will decides your attitudes, beliefs, actions.  It can either help you or hinder you. You can’t be a fence sitter in this. Being POSITIVE is the GOAL! By renewing your mind with positive personal statements of God’s Truth, your thoughts become your ally instead of being against you.

The reasons why the daily AFFIRMATIONS are vitally important is because they help feed your mind positive statements of God’s Truth. You need to do more than read them one or twice and be done with them.  What you really need to do is recite them over and over and over again until you are saying them in your sleep and let them transform you from the inside out.

The most wondrous things will stop to happen as you fill your mind with God’s truth and all the blessings that He has done in your life and desires to do in the future, the negativity  of the world around you will eventually get washed away.

New positive thoughts leads changes in attitude.  Gradually, as the attitude turns so does the words you speak and the way you respond to the situations that the world throws at you.  Your behavior and the actions you take also change.  Just as an example, “You won’t yell as much!” LOL  The best part of becoming more positive is that the people around you will respond to you differently and your circumstances will begin to change for the better.  You will find yourself in a positive cycle of blessing.

AFFIRMATION: I choose to focus on the positive, especially the truth of God’s Word; therefore my life is filled with positive outcomes.

Thank you very much goes out to Stuart Tutt of Something to Stu Over for nominating me for this challenge.  I find that it is an interesting challenge especially for someone like me that doesn’t write/post very often.

I’ve had an interesting life which has left me with a lot of negative thinking and feelings.  After a lot of seeing doctors over the years and research in God’s Word, I’ve come to the point that I need to change something from negative to positive if I want a more godly life. I started reading the book Deliver Me from Negative Self-Talk.

I chose the following quote:

“An intellectual is someone whose mind watches itself.”

– Albert Camus

This quote really made me stop and think. Thinking in and of itself is both very complicated and simple at the same time.  It is the way that the mind talks.  The book goes on to say that the act of thinking produces thoughts which turns into words leading to actions which creates character.  If your mind is like mine, sometimes it is really hard to even catch a single thought to focus on an turn them into words.

If you are always negative in your thoughts and actions then your life will be negative.  Positive thoughts and actions then will birth a positive life.  You have to change the way that you are thinking to change your character or life.  If I want to be more God-like, then I need to put more of God’s Word in my mind and heart and it will be reflected in my character.
