3 Day Quote Challenge: Day 3

Well this is it.  This is the last day of this challenge and Thank the Lord I made it.  I have to thank my readers for hanging in there with me during this challenging time because that’s exactly what it has been for me.

My Quote for today comes to me from my studies in creative writing:

Larry Menkin, Writer and Teacher, “Always said the most important advice on writing he could offer his students was this:  ‘Apply seat of pants.'”

In the textbook “Writing Great Short Stories” By Margaret Luke, She talks a lot about the only way that if a writer can get ideas is if he/she writes, writes some more, and then keeps on writing even more.  You also have to learn how to listen to other people “nicely” so you are not rude to them. This way you can get ideas and learn about dialog so you can make your characters seem more real.

Thank you Stuart Tutt of  Something to Stu Over so very much for this nomination again.  I have really enjoyed the act of searching and trying to find the right quotes to use for this challenge.  I do look forward to the future and more challenges that stretch my mind.

The Rules of this challenge are extremely simple.  They are as follows:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.

  2. Post a different quote for 3 days (weeks, or as soon as you can)  and explain why each one appeals to you.

  3. Nominate at least two bloggers each day.

I nominate the following blogger for this award:

  1. Lonelywarrior2018, FadedFaith

  2. Fr. Kevin, Inwardly Digest

For those I nominated, Please understand that you do not have to participate if you chose not to.  It is just something fun and challenging to do.  Thank you.

3 Day Quote Challenge : Day 2

Thank you so very much for your patience in waiting on me in this challenge.  Sometimes my worlds just roll around and are happy as can be, but then there are times that my worlds collide and that’s when I never know what is going to happen : sometimes good, and sometimes extremely bad to worst. I’ve kinda been having an extremely bad time of it lately but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

This is a rather hard challenge for me since I don’t write every day or even every week as it seems.  LOL  I tend to write when I have something to say and last month was not a good month for me and that’s all I’m going to say.  The one highlight of the month is that I got my new teeth. (see photo for proof)

I have to thank Stuart Tutt of Something to Stu Over for nominating me for this challenge.

The Rules of this challenge are extremely simple:

  1.         Thank the person who nominated you.
  2.         Post a Different quote for 3 days (weeks, or as soon as you can)               straight, and explain why each one appeals to you.
  3.         Nominate at least two new bloggers each day.

Due to my many blessings, I am learning to see life through “Rose Colored Glasses” again which brings me to my next quote:

You’re here not by chance, but by God’s choosing.

His hand formed you and made you the person you are.

He compares you to no one else- You are one of a kind.

You lack for nothing that His grace cannot give you.

He has allowed you to be here in this time in history

t)o fulfill His special purpose for this generation.

I ran across this poem the other day and was thoroughly amazed at how clearly it spoke to my heart. It states in no uncertain terms that we are meant to be here. Each one of us is unique and have a job to do that only we can do.  That we are not able  to compare ourselves to each other because each one of us is one of a kind.   We are to lack for nothing because God’s grace covers everything.  That this is our time to shine and our are to grab the bull by the horns and go for it. That we are not here for ourselves, but for God’s purpose for this generation that we are living in.  We are to look back to the history only to learn from it, but to keep our eyes on God.

Thank you  Stuart.  I have to admit that you have given me a real challenge with this nomination.  I had to really look and think about what quote I would use for Day 2 before posting.  Now, I still have on day to get so I will have to find one to top this one.  Oh My……..  What will I do…….LOL!!!!

I nominate the following bloggers for this challenge:

  1. Gordon King, End Time Bible Prophecy
  2. Don Merritt,

For those I nominated, please understand you do not have to participate if you chose not to.  It is just something fun and challenging to do.  Thank you.

The Liebster Award

A. My thanks goes out to Stuart Tutt of Something to Stu Over for nominating me for the Liebster Award.  This is the second nomination that I have received. Boy is this turning into a wild.  Thanks goes out to all my followers and visitors.  I couldn’t do this without you.

The Liebster Award is available from January 1 – December 31, 2018. All nominations are voluntary and if the blogger chooses to accept nomination, I will list the rules at the bottom of this post and the official rules can be found Here

B. Now onto Stuart’s questions to me,  his dear blogging friend

1. What would be the one thing you would tell your younger self, if you could go back in time?

Don’t get married to get away from yourself, out of a situation, just to get away from whatever, or because a man is good in bed.  Wait for a real gentleman, who is god-fearing, puts you second only to God, works hard and loves deeply.  Don’t do what ever you have to just to get the approval of a man.  Just try you very best to be the woman of God that God wants you to be not man and you will go far.

2. What is your favorite verse in the Bible and why?

Philippians 4:8-9

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing, Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

“Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me – everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”

These are my favorite Scriptures because they let us know how we are to keep our minds safe from Satan and tells us what we are suppose to do for Jesus as well as what our reward will be.  Everyone thinks Christianity is sooooo difficult but it’s really simply. Love the Lord God Almighty with all your heart, soul, and body.  The second is like the first.  It is Love your Neighbor as Yourself.  All you have to do is Love and everything else will fall into place

3. What is your reason for starting your blog?

I love to write and I want people to understand Mental Illness better.  It’s a disease just like cancer.  It’s treatable with medication and counseling.  More people live with a mental illness everyday than most people think.  I want to help get the stigma off of it.  It’s not something that you’re going to get by touching or  kissing or even sex.

I’m also taking a creative writing class because I feel that I have a story building inside me.  I want to write something meaningful in the future even if it’s just my life story.  Then maybe someone can learn from my mistakes and not do what I did to learn the lessons in life that I found out the hard way.

4. Which actor/actress did you have a crush on growing up?

Shaun Cassidy was my big heart throb. Then Tequila Sunrise came out in 1988 and I was hooked on Kurt Russell and Mel Gibson. Now it’s Thor

5. Do you prefer board games or a game of cards?

Board games are good but take up a lot of room and can get boring since they are the same thing over and over again.

I keep two decks of cards in my purse so I can start a game of whatever no matter where I am with no matter who I am with.  The games that you can play with a deck of cards is endless, and even if you only play spades over and over again, if you play with different people the game is always different.

6. What is you favorite breakfast food?

Bacon!  Real Bacon!!!!!!!!!  Not Turkey or Vegan Bacon, but Old Fashion Pig Bacon with all the FAT!!!

7. Do you prefer mustard mayo?

Depends on what I am fixing:

Tuna, egg salad, potato salad, Ham  – I use both.

Sandwiches – depends on the meat, pickle, and bread

Pimento cheese – Mayo only No matter what

Bologna, Roast Beef – Mayo and/or Dill Pickle

Turkey, Chicken – Mustard and/or Sweet Pickle

8. Which series can ‘you not go a week without watching?

Deception, SWAT, Chicago Fire and Criminal Minds – can’t go a week without watching

Perry Mason, Joyce Meyer – Enjoying Everyday Life, Max Lucado – Unshakable hope, Robert Morris – The Blessed Life – can’t go a day without watching

9. Have you wanted  to do something but chose not to because of circumstances?

I love clothes.  I keep getting mail order catalogs because I have credit accounts with a couple of mail order companies.  Well, I just got a 5 year loan to take care of most of my debt and put it all into one main payment.  I go and place an order with a new mail order company for some new clothes.  Well, they came in and I opened up the box and looked at the ideas and thought about my money and prayed to God, I took two shirts out and put the others back in the box to be returned, but I didn’t seal the box.  I showed them to my housemate, and I got an empty feeling inside so I put them each back in plastic and added them to the box and put the return slip in marked changed mind and sealed the box put on return label and mailed the whole box back.

10. When was the last time you went out to eat?

It depends on whether you mean with that special someone or just out eating somewhere with anyone?

I have not been on a real date in over 2 years.  I am tired of settling for the guy right now and now I’m after the forever guy. So if you are a god-fearing man that is not afraid of a Southern Belle with a strong will power and conviction.  God is my Father and Jesus is my Savior.  Only Serious men (and yes!  I mean MEN! NOT males that just want to get into my pants so that they can have another notch on their belt) Need to apply.  Contact me and we will start talking.

My best friend and I went out at the end of April, but I can’t remember the date.  It was Chick-fil A which is her favorite place to go.  I don’t really like it, but I do have my standard meal when we’re there.

11. How hard is it to forgive yourself?

Extremely. The devil is very good at bringing  up the past and rub your face in it.  It says in the bible that you have to forgive someone “seventy times seven” or more and that includes yourself. Every time Satan tries to bring the past up just stand on the Word of God and Tell Satan, “I have been forgiven and I have forgiven myself.  Get thee behind me, Satan!  You have no power over me.”  Sometimes you have to say it over and over again, but

1. I want to live on a horse farm and ride horses again.

2. I weighed 98 pounds soaking wet when I graduated High School in 1985.

3. When I joined the Air Force  ROTC, the SSgt had to look up the Weight Minimum Charts, which he had never had to use in his whole career, and found that I had to gain 8 pounds or I would  have lost my scholarship.  It took me two months of eating everything in sight and not taking part in PT or only in part of them but I did it and was able to save my scholarship.

4. I have always been afraid that I would have the schizophrenic “gene”.  My mother is schizophrenic so I know the disease very well which was what scared me.

5. I’ve been married three times, and each produced at least one child. I have four great children, and I love them very much despite what they may think.

6. I love winter more than summer.  You can always put more covers on to get warm, but you can only take so much off to get cool.

7. Each one of my husbands taught me something about life.  Thank you, Eric, Philip, Paul!!!!

8. I like to write but I’m not sure what I’m going to write: short story, poem, novelette, novel, epic novel. I don’t know…..Yet.

9. God is my Father and Jesus is my Lord and Savior.  The man that I want to marry will be second only to God.  I’m doing things God’s way now.  He’s number 1 now!!!

10. My color scheme is Rich Fall Autumn.  I look really good in   royal, jtBesideoewel tones.

11. I love the outdoors as long as the bugs are kept far away  from me.

D. Why am I passisonate about blogging?

I starting blogging because I love to write.  I am taking a course in creative writing and I have o get writing in the course and I figure my blog would be a great place to do it.  I am also Bipolar II which means that I am depressed more than anything and I need a place to put my thoughts.

Besides the above I hate the fact that Mental Illnesses are thought of as if everyone should be locked away in a hospital and never let out in society.  More people have a mental illness to some degree than you would think.  Mental Illnesses are diseases and most can be treated by medications and counseling.  Some are severe enough to need hospitalization, but not really that many.  According to the NAMI about 1 in 5 adults have some form of mental illness in a given year in the United States.
